Charles the Black and Aethelwulf the Loved

The first two player characters in this world. The deeds of their lives are remembered in song and legend among the people of Nostrum, who remember Aethelwulf the Loved as their first king and Charles the Black as his treacherous advisor. Aethelwulf the Loved's tomb is a site of pilgrimage for many. The sorcerous Charles is not known to have died, only suspected after over a thousand years of absence.

Leofwine Blackhand

An interloper from beyond Ayaria, after freeing his wife from an interdimensional prison he retired with her to the Nostrum countryside in the age of The Thaw. His legacy outlived him in the Black Hand mercenary company and his impact on the Fellowship of Valor. Even after his retirement, many young knights and squires who could prove they were of worthy faith could learn from the notorious Blackhand.
