From Medaevum

Community Rules

These apply on the Minecraft server, Discord, forums, everywhere that the community is moderated and two or more people are interacting.

1. Medaevum is an 18+ server. Be 18+ to join.

2. Don't be an asshole. Don't be racist, don't be bigoted, don't be a bully. These things are fine in character, but you are not your character. And while things might not always work out, or get heated, remember we're all just here for a good time and a good experience.

3. Nothing sexually explicit. If you want to post NSFW art, censor it and put it in a place designated for it. If you want to post anything else NSFW, then keep it to yourself or DM it to your pals. If you want to make passing references to sex in roleplay, that's fine. But don't ERP on the server, and don't make threats of sexual violence either. If you've played Baldur's Gate 3, imagine Baldur's Gate 3 but without the sex scenes. That level of crass discourse is fine.

4. Every Tuesday, you gotta belt out Circle of Life from the Lion King. You don't have to record it or anything, but just let me know you did it thanks.

5. Roleplay well. Or rather, remember what is and isn't roleplay. On Medaevum, it's discouraged to keep IC secrets a secret OOC as well. If you can't trust your fellow player not to metagame, then we got a bigger problem than spoiling people. And remember, if someone is mean to your character that doesn't mean they're being mean to you.

6. If you're uncomfortable, let the other person know or report it. We're all adults here. We should be able to understand that while we might be comfortable with something, the people around us might not be and we can pull back on whatever is making others uncomfortable. This is especially the case for events, if something in an event makes you uncomfortable let the person running it know. If whatever is happening can't be changed, you can at least drop out of it without consequence.

Minecraft Server

If you're playing on the Minecraft server, these rules apply to you.

1. Don't break prebuilt structures, or anything unless you've been told it's fine to. While we use Minecraft for its 3D environments, we aren't really playing normal Minecraft. It's a sandbox to visualize environments.

2. You have access to creative. Don't abuse it to gain an unfair advantage in character, if you want to do something but aren't sure it's permissible just ask.

3. With that aforementioned access to creative, don't go around altering builds and the like. If you want to build something, ask @Elz or @blarg for permission first. The exception to this is if you have a home, you can build pretty much whatever you like in there (within reason, if your character would plausibly have access to it in character; i.e., don't build a drawbridge or a catapult in your living room or a vast vault of gold). And if it's a minor, temporary build like a camp or a lean-to then that's also fine.

Roleplaying Rules

If you're roleplaying on Medaevum (if you aren't how did you get here?) these are some rules that govern that so things run smoothly.

1. Don't metagame. Obviously, what you know out of character doesn't translate to what your character knows in character. For things to be fair, we try to keep as open of a book as possible, including what would otherwise be secret. If you can't avoid the temptation of using that information in character even though your character wouldn't know it, that's too bad.

3. Don't powergame. If you're going to lose, lose gracefully.

4. You have access to fly, if you're playing on the Minecraft server. While you can fly around out of character all you like, don't do it during events unless your character can fly. Your character is limited to being able to scale one meter easily, scale two meters by taking an action, and they cannot scale three meter barriers.
